Perform Wheel Alignment Check - AR40.20-P-0200EW

Model 172, 207, 212, 218 

MODIFICATION NOTES

123.10.2018 Select drive program "Sport", added. Operation step 11.1  
INSPECT Check     
1 Check condition of vehicle. IMPORTANT For the wheel alignment measurement, all the vehicle parts must be installed and the vehicle must be fully assembled and ready to drive. Do not load the vehicle. The specified values for the vehicle are provided based on the actual values determined by the dimensional check system.
The specified tolerances of vehicle specified values are only for the test. If the vehicle is adjusted, the specified values should be aimed for.
 
2 Check condition and tire tread depth of tires.

3 Check rims for damage.    
4 Check and correct tire pressure.

5 Check vehicle underside for damage and corrosion of suspension, chassis and load-bearing body parts.

6 Check condition of the steering mechanism.

7 Check front axle joints for play and check dust boots for damage.

8 Check rear axle joints for play and check dust boots for damage.    
9 Check condition of shock absorbers and springs.    
  Preparatory tasks     
10 Print out form for wheel alignment measurement. If a visual wheel alignment measurement is performed.

11.1 Select drive program "Sport". Model 212, 218 with engine 157  
11.2 Select drive program "Comfort". Model 172, 207 with code 483 (ADVANCED AGILITY package)
Model 212 with engine 271, 272, 273, 274, 276, 278, 642, 651 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
Model 218 with engine 274, 276, 278, 642, 651 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
 
12 Drive the vehicle onto measuring station and secure using parking brake.    
13 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
14.1 Raise vehicle level and lower again. Model 212, 218 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)  
14.2 Rock vehicle to settle suspension on front and rear axle several times. Model 172, 207
Model 212, 218 except code 489 (AIRMATIC)
 
15 Switch off easy entry and exit feature. Model 172, 218 with code 275 (Memory package)  
16 Lower window of driver's door.    
17 Install the brake pedal jack with the adapter for brake pedal jack between the brake pedal and the driver's seat. NOTES
Protect contact surfaces of SPECIAL TOOL brake pedal jack with SPECIAL TOOL adapter for brake pedal jack on brake pedal and on driver's seat.
Otherwise, the brake pedal and driver's seat may be damaged.
IMPORTANT The vehicle must not be loaded again during the remaining work procedure.

18 Determine vehicle level on front and rear axle using electronic inclinometer. Model 172, 207 AR40.20-P-0301CW 
    Model 212, 218 AR40.20-P-0301EW
19 Attach quick clamping devices at front and rear wheels and remove tensioning levers. IMPORTANT The mount is centered relative to the wheel hub or rear axle shaft flange by check pins via the five mounting holes in the rim.

20 Attach wheel mirrors or measurement pickups,    
21 Attach measuring heads.    
MEASURING Measure     
22 Carry out input measurement.    
23 Compare determined values with the specified values.    
24 Checking rear axle camber IMPORTANT The camber on the rear axle is not adjustable. AR40.20-P-0331CW 
25 Adjust rear-axle toe According to results of initial measurement.

26 Adjust camber and caster at the front axle According to results of initial measurement.

27 Adjust front axle toe According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0264CW 
28 Check toe-out angle   AR40.20-P-0325CW 
MEASURING Measure     
29 Carry out output measurement.    
  Concluding tasks     
30 Detach measuring heads.    
31 Remove wheel mirrors or measurement pickups.    
32 Attach tensioning levers and remove quick clamping devices.    
33 Remove brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack.    
34 Lock turn and slip plates.    
35 Drive vehicle off measuring system.    
36 Switch on easy entry and exit feature. Model 172, 218
with code 275 (Memory package)
 
37 Check headlamp adjustment.
