4	Remove bolts (1L, 1R) from left and right underfloor paneling
5	Unscrew screws (4) and remove cover (3)	Model 171.473
6	Remove heat shield (2)

8	Detach rear stiffening bridge (40H)	Collar bolt, rear reinforcement bridge to frame floor	*BA61.10-P-1008-01A
9	Mark propeller shaft (20)	Apply colored markings to denote the propeller shaft position relative to the transmission, rear-axle differential and the propeller shaft center support bearing (7) so that the factory installation position can be restored when installing.
10	Undo bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing (7) by several turns, but do not remove completely	: Tighten bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing (7). 11	Detach Front flexible coupling (20V) from transmission	The Front flexible coupling (20V) remains on the drive shaft (20).   : Note markings for installation position on Front flexible coupling (20V).   Model 172 Propeller shaft at flexible coupling or flexible coupling to transmission	*BA41.10-P-1001-01I

13	Remove bolts from propeller shaft center support bearing (7) and remove drive shaft (20) downwards	Secure propeller shaft (20) against falling.
		: Partially screw in bolts for propeller shaft center support bearing (7), do not tighten.
	Check
14	Check propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7) for wear and damage	If worn or damaged ↓ Replace propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7).	AR41.10-P-0100V
15	Check Front and rear pilot bushing for sealing lip wear and damage	If worn or damaged ↓ Replace pilot bushing.

16	Fill cavities in Front and rear pilot bushing with multipurpose grease	When reusing pilot bushings.

17	Check Front flexible coupling (20V) and rear flexible coupling (20H) of drive shaft (20) for wear, and replace, if necessary		AP41.10-P-4152V
18	Install in the reverse order
