MODIFICATION NOTES

05.10.2020 Release, disconnect and remove fuel line (7) and purge line (6). Operation step 5, 6 and 7.  
15.01.2021 Bearings of various sizes installed on stabilizer bar (1). Operation step 2.

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove rear wheels.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
2.1 Check variant of installed stabilizer bar bushings (A, B). Model 190  
    IMPORTANT Differently sized stabilizer bar bushings (A, B) are installed.  
    If stabilizer bar bushings (A) are installed,

Detach fender liner in rear fender in lower area.

    If stabilizer bar bushings (B) are installed,

remove drive shaft with drive shaft housing.

2.2 Detach fender liner in rear fender in lower area. Model 197 AR88.10-P-1400RQ
3 Remove torsion bar linkage (3) at right side of vehicle from lever arm (2) and at left side of vehicle from stabilizer bar (1). IMPORTANT Model 190 with code 478 (AMG RIDE CONTROL)

    Installation  : Secure torsion bar linkage (3) on right side of vehicle in center bore of lever arm (2). Secure torsion bar linkage (3) on left side of vehicle in center hole of stabilizer (1).  
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Counterhold using internal torx when removing nuts from ball stud.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, torsion bar linkage to stabilizer bar/lever arm *BA32.35-P-1001-03D 
4 Remove lever arm (2) from stabilizer bar (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The lever arm (2) only fits in one position on the stabilizer bar (1).  
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT After mounting the lever arm (2), apply underbody wax protection on the gearing area.  
    Corrosion protection wax, 1 liter *BR00.45-Z-1022-05A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, lever arm to stabilizer bar *BA32.35-P-1003-03D 
    If stabilizer (1) is to be replaced,

replace lever arm (2) as well.
 
5 Release and disconnect fuel line (7) at connecting point and remove from holders (5). If stabilizer bar bushings (A) are installed.  
6 Release and disconnect purge line (6) at connecting point and remove from holders (5). If stabilizer bar bushings (A) are installed.  
7 Seal openings of fuel line (7) and purge line (6) with suitable stop plugs. If stabilizer bar bushings (A) are installed.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
8 Unscrew screws (4) on left and right side of vehicle and carefully remove stabilizer (1) toward left side of vehicle. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, stabilizer bar to body *BA32.35-P-1002-03D 
INSPECT Check     
9 Check ball joint and seal bellows of torsion bar linkage (3) for damage. If there is a problem,

replace corresponding torsion bar linkage (3).
 
    Model 190 AR32.35-P-3329RG 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 197
Nut, torsion bar linkage to transverse control arm
*BA32.35-P-1005-03D 
10 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11 Perform engine test run and check fuel system for leaks.
