Remove/Install Differential - AR35.31-P-0520LW

Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 (except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993)

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. Deburr repair panels. AS00.00-Z-0017-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100CW
2 Remove right rear axle shaft (37)   AR35.30-P-0621LW
3 Remove rear mufflers Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487) with engine 177, 276  
    Model 205 with engine 276 AR49.10-P-4952LW
    Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487) with engine 177 AR49.10-P-4952MNA
4 Remove propeller shaft (7) from rear axle differential (50) and secure against bending Model 253 (except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993) AR41.10-P-0050LWX
    Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487) AR41.10-P-0050LW
5 Unlock and detach electrical connection on end cover from locking motor Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487) with engine 177  
6 Support rear axle differential (50) and lash down securely    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
7 Remove screw/bolt (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear axle differential to rear transverse bridge *BA35.10-P-1006-01H 
8 Remove screw/bolt (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Rear axle differential to front adapter *BA35.10-P-1005-01H 
9 Lower rear axle differential (50) slightly    
10 Remove spacer ring (9)    
11 Secure left rear axle shaft (37) to prevent it from falling down    
12 Pry left rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle differential (50) IMPORTANT Do not rest the assembly lever on the protective ring (37a). Support the assembly lever on the rear axle differential (50) using e.g. a socket wrench.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace the retaining ring (37o) of the left rear axle shaft (37).		  
13 Remove rear axle differential (50) in downward direction    
14 Install in the reverse order    
15 Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct, if necessary   AR35.31-P-0520-03LW
