	Remove/install
1	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift		AR00.60-P-0100CW
2	Remove corresponding complete rear wheel		AR40.10-P-1102A
3	Remove collar nut from rear axle shaft (37)	: Replace collar nut and secure after tightening.

4	Remove plastic cover from spring link
5	Lift up steering knuckle (7) using major assembly mount until the rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontal

		: Tighten the threaded connection of the strut rod (5), camber strut (2), thrust arm (3) and tie rod (4).

6	Remove camber strut (2) from steering knuckle (7)	: Screw on bolted connection loosely.
7	Remove thrust arm (3) from steering knuckle (7)	: Screw on bolted connection loosely.
8	Remove tie rod (4) from steering knuckle (7)	: Screw on bolted connection loosely.
9	Remove strut rod (5) from steering knuckle (7)	: Screw on bolted connection loosely.
10	Unclip electrical line of RPM sensor from bracket on steering knuckle (7) and from bracket on wheel arch
11	Unlock and disconnect electrical connector from actuator motor of electric parking brake and create access to electrical line		AR42.20-P-0600LW
12	Unclip electrical line of rear axle damping valve unit from bracket on steering knuckle (7) and from bracket on wheel arch	Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 (except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993) with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
13	Lower steering knuckle (7)	: Lift up steering knuckle (7) until rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontal.
14	Fold down steering knuckle (7) and pull rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange	If the rear axle shaft (37) is difficult to remove ↓ Press rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange.

15	Pry rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle differential (50)	Do not rest the assembly lever on the protective ring (37a). Support assembly lever, e.g. using socket wrench on rear axle differential (50).
16	Take out rear axle shaft (37)	: Replace locking ring (37o) on inner spline profile.
	Check
17	Check constant velocity joints	With axial or radial play ↓ Replace rear axle shaft (37).
18	Check boots (37m)	If leaky or damaged ↓ Replace the boot (37m) concerned.
