	Remove/install
1	Remove center engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105LW
2	Unscrew inner tie rod (2) from tie rod (1)		AR46.40-P-0200LW
3	Remove inner clamp (3)	Install new inner clamp (3). The clamping action for the inner clamp (3) must be downwards.
4	Detach outer clamp (4)	Opening of outer clamp (4) must face downwards.
5	Detach boot (5) from inner tie rod (2)	Clean contact surface of boot (5) on tie rod (2) and rack-and-pinion steering, then coat lightly with grease.

	Check
6	Check water drain valve in steering gear	MODEL 205 without CODE M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)	AR46.20-P-0005LW
7	Check toothed rack for signs of corrosion	If the toothed rack exhibits corrosion: ↓ Replace rack-and-pinion steering
			AR46.20-P-0600LW
8	Check axial joint of inside tie rod (2) for play	If the axial joint on the inner tie rod (2) is worn out: ↓ Replace inner tie rod with axial joint (2).
			AR46.40-P-0201LW
9	Install in the reverse order
10	Perform wheel alignment check		AR40.20-P-0200LW
