REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left and right front seats

3 Remove all three head restraints in rear

4 Disconnect battery ground line

5 Remove trims in trunk IMPORTANT Except left side paneling.
IMPORTANT On vehicles without  one of the codes listed below, the right side paneling in the trunk must  be replaced with new paneling: 
  • Code (220) Parktronic system (PTS)
  • Code (229) Park Assist
  • Code (230) Exclusive parking assist (APG)
  • Code (233) Distronic Plus
  • Code (234) Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
  • Code (881) Remote trunk closing (RTC [HDFS]).
 
6 Remove door lining from left front door    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   MODEL 221.0, MODEL 221.1 except CODE Z07 (Top protection) AR72.10-P-1000SX
7 Remove speaker in left front door    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   MODEL 221.0, MODEL 221.1 except CODE Z07 (Top protection)
IMPORTANT Speaker is replaced with a new taxi two-way radio speaker (H6).

8 Remove center console

9 Remove glove box

10 Remove left front and right floor covering    
11 Remove rear floor covering    
12 Remove rear shelf

IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a two-way radio antenna (A2/49a3) on the vehicle roof, and/or  on vehicles with COMAND APS (with navigation) (527).

14 Remove headliner

IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a mirror taximeter and/or  a microphone (B25/1) for the rental vehicle two-way radio and/or  a two-way radio antenna (A2/49a3) on the vehicle roof.

15 Remove antenna

IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a taximeter control unit (A67n1) (mirror taximeter) and/or  a microphone (B25/1) for the rental vehicle two-way radio and/or  a two-way radio antenna (A2/49a3) on the vehicle roof.

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A
16 Remove right windowbag

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injury may result when the tension in the spring in the automatic belt retractor is released. Never disassemble automatic belt retractors. AS91.00-Z-0002-01A
17 Remove right seat belt in rear

18 Remove starter battery (G1/4)

19 Remove front prefuse box (F32) IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.
Leave positive lines (5) connected to the front prefuse box (F32). Just swivel front prefuse box (F32) to the side.
 
DANGER Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
20 Remove wiper arms

    IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.  
21 Unclip water collector (28) upwards off the windshield IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.  
22 Remove housing (27) IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.  
23 Remove left drip rail IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.  
24 Remove cover from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove paneling in trunk MODEL 221.0, MODEL 221.1 except CODE Z07 (Top protection)
IMPORTANT Only if the customer wants a bracket for the roof sign lamp (E14/4) with electrical connection.

INSTALLING Install     
25 Install taxi two-way radio speaker (H6) in left front door    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   MODEL 221.0, MODEL 221.1 except CODE Z07 (Top protection)
IMPORTANT Use the new taxi two-way radio speaker (H6).

IMPORTANT With STAR DIAGNOSIS.
41 Supply the new operating instructions with the rental car IMPORTANT Operator's manual for "Taximeter - driver" and "Taximeter - company". The rental vehicle operator's manual must be ordered through the usual channels.  
42 Add special equipment to the vehicle data card and to the online vehicle data card IMPORTANT Only codes which have been retrofitted.
