- Comfort telephony (with code 386 or with code 389)
Both versions use Bluetooth technology for data transfer.
To be able to operate a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone authorized at "audio equipment" in the vehicle, the mobile phone must support hands-free profile (HFP) 1.0 or higher. More information is available at: www.mercedes-benz-mobile.com/connect
The mobile phone system consists of the address book subfunction as well as the following subfunctions, which are described in separate service information:
- Switch on/off characteristics
- Establish call and terminate call
- Accept call and reject call with the mobile phone system
- Short Message Service (SMS), with comfort telephony, with code (386) Mobile phone or with code (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/Canada

Telephone book, with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer or with code (528) COMAND with DVD changer
The phone book contains the phone book entries stored in the "Audio unit". The user can manage (view and delete) his contact data in the telephone book. Additionally, the data from the phone book of the mobile phone can be loaded into the phone book of the "audio equipment" (external data).
The data from the mobile phone's phonebook is then permanently available, even if the mobile phone is no longer inserted in the mobile phone cradle (accessories).
External phone book entries can only be removed by deleting all entries or deleting individual entries.
The system can be provided with the stored information via the phone book entries and the connection established immediately.
The telephone book is activated via the "Telephone (Tel)" base function, using the "Tel" hard key on the "audio equipment", or via the "Tel" menu item in the application bar, using the keypad on the "audio equipment", and then via the "Name" menu item in the function bar.
In vehicles with basic telephony, it is possible to gain read access to the telephone book of the mobile phone, if the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth profile Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP). Otherwise, data from the telephone book of the mobile phone can only be uploaded to the "audio equipment" via "vCards". Additionally, the user can enter or select a telephone number in the following ways:
- Telephone buttons on "Audio unit"
- Telephone numbers already dialed from the call lists
- Telephone number that has already been transmitted in the "Audio equipment" phone book

The data from the mobile phone's phonebook is then permanently available, even if the mobile phone is no longer inserted in the mobile phone cradle (accessories).

The Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone and the Bluetooth antenna (A2/91) can be used to transmit data from other external devices (e.g. PDA, laptop, etc.) into the address book. These data are then permanently available as address entries. The address-relevant applications for telephony can be started directly via the address book entries and provided with the data stored. The address book is activated via the "Telephone (Tel)" base function, using the "Tel" hard key on the "audio equipment", or via the "Tel" menu item in the application bar, using the keypad on the "audio equipment", and then via the "Address book" menu item in the function bar.
