Function requirements

IMPORTANT Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":

IMPORTANT To be able to operate a Bluetooth-capable mobile phone authorized at "audio equipment" in the vehicle, the mobile phone must support Hands Free Profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5. More information is available under:

General

The mobile phone can be used by the user to initiate or terminate a telephone call to another person in the cellular telephone system network or the fixed-line network.

The "Accept call and reject call with the mobile phone system" function consists of the following subfunctions:

The system is described using the comfort telephony as an example.

Differences from the basic telephony are marked by the symbol.

Operating instruction

A call is accepted or rejected via:

Function sequence, call signal

The mobile phone receives a call signal in the following way:

Information about the caller is displayed on the mobile phone's screen. The display on the mobile phone's screen is forwarded internally.

At the same time, the call signal is forwarded to the "audio unit" in the following way:

The "audio unit" in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, transmits the ring tone to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3) via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). From there, the ring tone is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker (H4/29) travels over MOST from the "Audio equipment" to the sound system amplifier and from there, over the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9), via direct lines, to the subwoofer speaker.

At the same time, the "audio unit" mutes the currently active audio source (e.g. in radio mode) (MUTE). This takes place internally in the "audio unit".

The caller identification is displayed by the "audio unit" on the screen of the "audio unit".

Additionally, the display of the caller identification is generated via interior CAN in the instrument cluster (A1).

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT With basic telephony, the mobile phone receives the call signal via the mobile phone antenna. The call signal is then forwarded to the "audio unit" in the following way:

Function sequence, accept call over mobile phone buttons

Pressing the "Accept call" button on the mobile phone serves to accept the call in hands-free mode. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Accept call function sequence over telephone keys or keypad on "audio unit"

The call signal serves to display the caller identification on the screen of the "audio unit". When the "Accept phone call" button on the "audio unit" is pressed or the "Accept" function in the "Telephone (Tel)" base function is selected via the keypad on the "audio unit", the call is accepted in hands-free mode.

The control signals from the buttons on the "audio unit" are processed internally.

Function sequence, accept call over multifunction steering wheel button groups

The call is accepted in hands-free mode by pressing the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) in the corresponding subfield. The control signal from the accept and terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "audio unit" via the following components:

Accept call function sequence over VCS [SBS], with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer

The voice control of the VCS [SBS] is activated by pressing the VCS On button (S111s4) of the right multifunction steering wheel button group. The control signal from the VCS [SBS] on button is forwarded to the "audio unit" via the following components:

A signal tone is emitted after the voice control system has been activated.

The signal tone in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, is transmitted by the "audio unit" to the sound system amplifier control unit via MOST. From there, the signal tone is transmitted over direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the "audio equipment" to the sound system amplifier and from there, via the subwoofer amplifier, along direct lines to the subwoofer speaker.

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:

The call is only accepted with the corresponding voice command. The voice commands are acquired by the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) and forwarded to the "audio equipment" via a direct line.

IMPORTANT The individual voice commands are listed in the "Linguatronic operator's manual".

Function sequence, telephone call in hands-free mode

After the call has been accepted, the "audio unit" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

Voice input in hands-free mode (except "Private Mode") is acquired by the hands-free system microphone group and forwarded to the "audio equipment" via a direct line.

The voice output (except "private mode") in vehicles with code (810) Sound system, is conducted by the "audio unit" to the amplifier for sound system via MOST. From there, the voice output is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the "audio equipment" to the sound system amplifier and from there, via the subwoofer amplifier, along direct lines to the subwoofer speaker.

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio unit" via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT For basic telephony, the "audio unit" transmits or receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

IMPORTANT In general, the telephone connection is established in hands-free mode for basic telephony and for comfort telephony after accepting the call.

With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is taken out of the cradle after establishing the phone connection in hands-free mode and thus disconnected from the "audio unit", then the phone call is conducted in "private mode".

With comfort telephony, if the mobile phone is inserted into the cradle again during an ongoing phone call, the phone call is conducted again in handsfree mode.

Function sequence, reject call over mobile phone buttons

Pressing the "End" button on the mobile phone rejects the call. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Reject call function sequence over telephone keys or keypad on "audio unit"

The call is rejected by pressing the "End" button on the "audio unit" or by activating the "END" function in the "Telephone (Tel)" base function. The control signals from the telephone buttons on the "audio unit" are processed internally.

Function sequence, reject call over multifunction steering wheel button groups

Pressing the accept/terminate phone call button in the corresponding subfield rejects the call. The control signal from the accept and terminate phone call button is forwarded to the "audio unit" via the following components:
