Setting up/ending phone call, function - GF82.70-P-2008GQ

Function requirements 

IMPORTANT To be able to operate a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone authorized at "audio equipment" in the vehicle, the mobile phone must support hands-free profile (HFP) 1.0 or higher. More information is available at: www.mercedes-benz-mobile.com/connect

IMPORTANT The entries in one of the two following "Books" are permanently available, they can only be removed by deleting them: Phonebook, with code (523) MB Audio 20 radio, with code (510) Audio 20 with CD changer or with code (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer. Address book, with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio, with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer.

IMPORTANT With the basic telephony, it is possible to gain read access to the telephone book of the mobile phone, if the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth profile Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP). Otherwise, the entries in the telephone book of the mobile phone can only be transmitted to the "audio equipment" via "vCards".

General 

The mobile phone can be used by the user to initiate or terminate a telephone call to another person in the mobile phone system network or the fixed-line network.

The "Establish call and terminate telephone call" function consists of the following subfunctions:

The system is described using the comfort telephony as an example. Differences from the basic telephony are marked by the symbol.

Operating instructions 

The telephone call is established and ended using:

Function sequence for establishing call over mobile phone buttons 

The telephone number is selected via the buttons on the mobile phone or from the mobile phone's phone book. The "Accept phone call" button is pressed. The telephone call is then established in handsfree mode.

The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally in the mobile phone.

Function sequence for establishing call using the telephone keys or the keypad on the "audio equipment" 

After dialing the telephone number by using the telephone buttons on the "audio equipment" and pressing the "Accept phone call" button or selecting the telephone function by using the keypad on the "audio equipment" and then activating the "SEND" function, the telephone call is established in handsfree mode.

The "Telephone (Tel)" base function is activated via the "Tel" hard key on the "audio equipment" or the "Tel" menu item in the application bar via the keypad on the "audio equipment" and shown on the display of the "audio equipment". The following ways of dialing a telephone number are available to the user:

The name of the person to be called can be selected in the telephone book or address book and in the call lists by scrolling up and down. The control signals of the telephone keys or the keypad on the "audio equipment" are processed internally. The display of the menu item on the screen of the "audio equipment" also takes place internally.

Function sequence, establish call using multifunction steering wheel button groups 

The telephone book or the address book is selected by pressing the system selection (S110s3) button via the selection menu in the instrument cluster (A1). The name of the person to be called is selected by scrolling up and down in the telephone book or the address book using the scroll up and down button (S110s1). The accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) can be used to establish the telephone call in the handsfree system.

The control signals of the multifunction steering wheel button groups are forwarded to the "audio equipment" via the following components:

IMPORTANT Communication with the basic telephony takes place between the "audio equipment" and the mobile phone in the following way:

Establish call function sequence over VCS [SBS], with code (511) Audio 50 APS with DVD changer, with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer 

The voice control of the VCS [SBS] is activated by pressing the VCS On button (S111s4) of the right multifunction steering wheel button group.

The control signal from the VCS [SBS] on button is forwarded to the "audio equipment" via the following components:

A signal sound is emitted after the voice control system has been activated.

The signal tone on vehicles with code (810) Sound system, is sent by the "audio equipment" via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the amplifier for sound system (N40/3). From there, the signal tone is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker (H4/29) travels via MOST from the "audio equipment" to the amplifier for sound system and from there using direct lines via the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9) to the subwoofer speaker.

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio equipment" via direct lines to the following speakers:

Establishing a call is activated in the dialog with the VCS [SBS] with the help of voice commands, e.g. with the following:

The voice commands are acquired by the handsfree system microphone group (A67b1) and forwarded to the "audio equipment" via a direct line.

The voice control of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) is used to establish the telephone call in the hands-free mode.

Establish call function sequence for phone call in handsfree mode 

When the call has been established successfully, the "audio equipment" transmits or receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

With code (386) Mobile phone on model 251 as of 1.6.2013, the "audio equipment" sends or receives the cell phone signals or data via the following path when a call is successfully established:

The voice input in handsfree mode is registered by the handsfree system microphone group and forwarded via a direct line to the "audio equipment".

The voice output on vehicles with code (810) Sound system is conducted by the "audio equipment" to the amplifier for sound system via MOST. From there, the voice output is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT The audio signal for the subwoofer speaker travels via MOST from the "audio equipment" to the sound system amplifier and from there, via the subwoofer amplifier, along direct lines to the subwoofer speaker.

IMPORTANT In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the signal tone is transmitted directly from the "audio equipment" via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT When in "private mode" the user can make a telephone call without other vehicle occupants being able to hear the conversation. The system switches to "private mode" when the mobile phone is removed from the mobile phone cradle (accessories).

IMPORTANT For basic telephony, the "audio equipment" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

Terminate call function sequence over mobile phone buttons 

Pressing the "END" button on the mobile phone terminates the telephone call. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Terminate call function sequence over telephone keys or keypad on "audio equipment" 

The telephone call is terminated by pressing the "END" button on the "audio equipment" or by activating the "END" function in the "Telephone (Tel)" base function. The control signals of the telephone keys or the keypad on the "audio equipment" are processed internally.

Function sequence, terminate call using multifunction steering wheel button groups 

The accept/terminate phone call button terminates the telephone call. The control signals of the multifunction steering wheel button groups are forwarded to the "audio equipment" via the following components:

Function sequence, terminate phone call in handsfree mode 

After a phone call has been terminated, the "audio equipment" interrupts the transmission or reception of the mobile phone signals or data. This takes place internally in the "audio equipment".

The display in the instrument cluster is conducted by the "audio equipment" via interior CAN.

IMPORTANT Communication with the basic telephony takes place between the "audio equipment" and the mobile phone in the following way:
