Automatic headlamp actuation, function - GF82.10-P-3003GZA

Function requirements
- Rotary light switch set to "AUTO".
- Rain/light sensor sends the "Darkness" signal
- Engine speed n > 300 rpm for t > 2 s (for xenon lamps and high beams)
The overhead control panel control unit reads in the status of the rain/light sensor and transmits a corresponding message to the front SAM control unit via CAN-B.
Function at start of journey (in darkness)
The standing lights are activated as of circuit 15R On.
The low beams are also activated with circuit 61 On.
It is possible then to switch on the high beams.
Function at end of journey (in darkness)
The low beams (high beams, if necessary) are deactivated when the engine is switched off. The standing lights are not switched off until the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed from the EIS [EZS] control unit.
Actuation of exterior lights
Depending on the equipment fitted, the front SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Standing and parking lamp
- Low beam
- High beam
- Side-marker lamp
- Xenon headlamp control unit
- High beam solenoid
The front SAM control unit forwards the switch-on request via CAN-B to the rear SAM control unit.
Depending on the equipment fitted, the rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Taillights and rear fog light
- Left and right brake lights
- Taillights, side-marker lamp, parking lights
- License plate lamp, rear-end door
- Taillights for trailer (for code (550) Trailer hitch)
- License plate lamps for trailer (for code (550) Trailer hitch)
Function with wiper system active
The above-mentioned exterior lights are also switched on if the wiper runs for t = 20 s with a cycle period of t < 6 s (no washing or single wiping).
The exterior lights are switched off again if:
- there is no wipe cycle for t > 20 s
- circuit 15R is switched off
- the wiper system is deactivated manually
When exiting a tunnel, at most t = 10 s of the cut-in time (t = 20 s) elapse.
