Location
The rotary light switch is located at the left next to the steering wheel in the instrument panel.
Design
The rotary light switch contains the following components:
- Exterior lights switch, with following positions
- Left parking lights (1)
- Right parking lights (2)
- Off (3)
- Auto on/off headlamps (4)
- Standing light (5)
- Low beam (6)
- Fog lamps indicator lamp (S1e1)
- Rear fog lamp indicator lamp (S1e2)
- Standing lamps indicator lamp (S1e3)
- HCS [SRA] switch (S1s7) (up to 31.5.07) (with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system)
- Headlamp range adjustment selector wheel (S1s8) (without code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit)
Turning the rotary light switch to the low beams position and pulling it out until it latches into place switches on the left front fog lamp (E5/1) and the right front fog lamp (E5/2), pulling it out further to the second latching position also switches on the left rear fog light (E3e5) (on left-hand drive vehicles) or the right rear fog light (E4e5) (on right-hand drive vehicles).
The positions are read in over the local interconnect network (LIN) by the upper control panel control unit (N72/1).
