	Remove/install
	Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel.	No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.	AS47.00-Z-0001-01A
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1.1	Empty fuel tank (1) over the fuel pump	If fuel pump is intact

5	Remove center rear seat cushions or continuous rear seat cushions and unscrew nuts (1a)	Model 221.0 with code 223, rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats, lumbar support and pneumatically raisable head restraints. 9	Remove fuel hose (5) from fuel tank (1)	Collect escaping fuel.
10	Detach fuel return hose from fuel tank (1)	MODEL 221 with ENGINE 629, 642 Collect escaping fuel.
11	Remove fuel filler flap with filler neck recess		AR88.60-P-2000SX
12	Remove screw/bolts (1b)	Bolt, filler neck to body	*BA47.10-P-1003-01L
13	Remove screw/bolts (1c)	Nut or bolt, fuel tank to vehicle floor	*BA47.10-P-1002-01L
14	Take out fuel tank (1)	Never handle fuel tank (1) at the filler neck (6) or at the vent line (7). The fuel tank (1) will be damaged otherwise. The filler neck (6) and vent line (7) cannot be replaced separately!
15	Replace fuel tank (1)	For a damaged fuel tank (1) Dispose of fuel tank (1) appropriately and observe the environmental protection provisions.
16	Install in the reverse order
	Check
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17	Check fuel system for leaks with engine running
