1 Measuring and adjusting wheel lock IMPORTANT Before testing and setting the hydraulic limiter the mechanical limit stop on the front axle must have been checked or configured. AR40.20-P-0345AC
2 Start engine and allow to idle IMPORTANT The front wheels must no longer be on the turnplates, but rather be on solid ground.
3 Turn steering to right until a clearly noticeable resistance is felt IMPORTANT On no account should the steering be forced into the maximum possible stop, but rather turned only to the noticeable resistance from the normal steering movement and hold it in this position.
4 Measure distance (A) between stop screw (5) and axle stop (6) on right-hand front wheel IMPORTANT A second person must be called on for assistance during the measurement as the trade show requires that the steering wheel be held at the hydraulic limit stop.
5 Turn steering to left until a clearly noticeable resistance is felt IMPORTANT On no account should the steering be forced into the maximum possible stop, but rather turned only to the noticeable resistance from the normal steering movement and hold it in this position.
6 Measure distance (A) between stop screw (5) and axle stop (6) on left-hand front wheel IMPORTANT A second person must be called on for assistance during the measurement as the trade show requires that the steering wheel be held at the hydraulic limit stop.
7 Evaluating measurement results IMPORTANT The distance (A) between the stop screw (5) and axle stop (6) on the left-hand front wheel must be equal to or larger than that on the right-hand front wheel. *BE46.20-P-1006-01B
*BE46.20-P-1007-01B
IMPORTANT If there is no complaint after the evaluation of the measurement results the hydraulic limiter does not have to be adjusted and it is to be continued with operation step 13.
8 Set center position of hydraulic limiter IMPORTANT Only if distance (A) on the left and right wheels is different does the steering center position have to be adjusted by lengthening or shortening the drag link. AR46.25-P-3090-03F
Distance between stop bolt and axle stop when inserting the hydraulic end limiter and left wheel steer angle *BE46.20-P-1006-01B
Distance between stop bolt and axle stop when inserting the hydraulic end limiter and right wheel steer angle *BE46.20-P-1007-01B
9 Check hydraulic limiter after adjustment of center position IMPORTANT To do so repeat steps 2 through 7.
10 Perform basic setting of hydraulic limiter IMPORTANT The steering limiter valve (1) is pressurized and - when the engine is running - must not be turned through more than 2.5 turns. For this reason before the actual setting procedure a basic setting must be performed. AR46.25-P-3090-01F
11 Check hydraulic limiter after basic setting IMPORTANT To do so repeat steps 2 through 7.
12 Adjust hydraulic limiter   AR46.25-P-3090-02F
Distance between stop bolt and axle stop when inserting the hydraulic end limiter and left wheel steer angle *BE46.20-P-1006-01B
Distance between stop bolt and axle stop when inserting the hydraulic end limiter and right wheel steer angle *BE46.20-P-1007-01B
13 Check hydraulic limiter after setting process IMPORTANT To do so repeat steps 2 through 7. To reach the specified value it may be necessary to combine the preceding adjustment measures. After each adjustment procedure the hydraulic limiter must be checked again.
14 Place front wheels in straight-ahead position
15 Check center position of the steering gear IMPORTANT The markings on the pitman arm, steering shaft and steering-gear housing.
A minor deviation is permissible if the hydraulic limiter was able to be correctly set during the preceding steps.

16 Check center position of steering wheel, correct if necessary IMPORTANT After setting the hydraulic limiter the center position of the steering wheel must not be changed anymore by altering the drag link, but rather the lower universal joint (4) of the steering shaft has to be offset.
17 Check straight-ahead position of steering and turn-signal cancellation during a test drive
