Radio mode, function - GF82.60-P-2001TJ

MODEL 211.0 /2 with CODE (529) HIGH Class Japan

Radio reception, function

The antennas in the rear window receive high frequency (RF [HF]) signals in the FM and AM ranges (LW, SW). Modulated onto these RF [HF] signals are the music, voice or data signals. The left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) filters the radio frequency band frequencies from the received RF [HF] signals and amplifies them. The amplified RF [HF] signals are then transmitted from the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) via a joint coaxial line (FM, AM) to the radio receiver in the audio gateway control unit (N93/1). The radio receiver demodulates the RF [HF] signals, in other words it separates the useful information (audible frequencies) from the carrier signal (inaudible). The demodulated audio signals are amplified and converted into sound signals by the vehicle speakers.

Radio mode

The radio menu is accessed by pressing the "AUDIO" function key on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). Following this, the controls for radio mode at the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) can be used to set the following subfunctions:

Radio functions:

Station selection

Different ways of tuning in stations:

FM antenna diversity

If reception problems occur while driving, the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) tries to receive the selected station on an alternative frequency with the aid of the second receiver and then tries to switch over accordingly if reception improves.

IMPORTANT As the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) automatically switches to an alternative frequency of the station in case of reception interference, this may also lead to the reception of a different regional program. If this is not desired, the entry "Regional program" can be activated in the "FM settings" menu.

FM antenna diversity, function

The antenna diversity function switches between the FM antennas in the rear window depending on the reception. The function runs automatically and is carried out by the antenna amplification module (A2/64).

The radio tuner only generates the intermediate frequency (IF [ZF]) signal which serves the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) as a reference for changing the FM antenna.
