	Remove/install
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
		While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.
		Installation: Only tighten bolts and nuts of the chassis components in the curb condition.

2	Remove rear wheel
	Remove/install wheels		AP40.10-P-4050CW
3	Remove twelve-point collar nut (12) from rear axle shaft (37)	Installation: Replace twelve-point collar nut (12).	AR35.30-P-0115-01TX

4	Raise wheel carrier (7) using transmission jack and transmission platform until rear axle shaft (37) is roughly horizontal	Installation: Tighten threaded connections for rebound strut, camber strut and thrust arm (5, 2, 3) along with the tie rod (4).

5	Detach camber strut (2), torque strut (5), tie rod (4) and thrust arm (3) from wheel carrier (7)	Installation: Screw on bolted connections loosely.
6	Unclip electrical line of RPM sensor (L6/3 or L6/4) from bracket (6) on wheel carrier (7) and bracket on wheel arch
7	Unclip electrical line of brake wear sensor or right rear damping valve unit from bracket (6) on wheel carrier (7) and bracket on wheel arch	When removing right rear axle shaft (37) on vehicles with brake wear sensor or code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package
8	Unclip electrical line of left rear axle damping valve unit from bracket (6) on wheel carrier (7) and bracket on wheel arch	When removing left rear axle shaft (37) on vehicles with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package
9	Lower wheel carrier (7)	Installation: raise wheel carrier (7) with transmission jack and transmission platform until rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontal.
10	Fold down wheel carrier (7) and pull rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange	If the rear axle shaft (37) is difficult to remove: ↓ Press rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange.	AR35.30-P-0115-03SX

11	Lever rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle center assembly (50)	Do not fasten assembly lever to the protective ring (37a). Support assembly lever e.g. with socket wrench on differential (50).
12	Take out rear axle shaft (37)	Installation: Install new retaining ring (37o) on inner splined profile.

13	Check constant velocity joints and rubber boots	If the constant velocity joint is defective, the rear axle shaft (37) must be completely replaced. If damaged or leaking: ↓ Replace constant velocity joint or rubber boot on rear axle shaft.	AR35.30-P-0661P
