Modification notes

7.4.98 Scope of work modified Use of new adhesive material  
REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by slipping when clamping blade in the multicutter and by glass splinters when cutting out bonded windows Always interrupt air supply when inserting or removing blade.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

1 Heat 1-component adhesive cartridge in cartridge heater IMPORTANT Heating time is approx. 60 minutes.

2 Remove C-pillar paneling from Vario roof   AR68.30-P-4500G
3 Remove paneling at rear of Vario roof   AR68.30-P-4360G
4 Disconnect electrical connectors from rear window    
5 Remove sheet metal holders (2) on left and right on frame seal (3)    
6 Pull frame seal (3) out of channel in area of rear window (4) and position to inside    
7 Close Vario roof so that front arresting pins make contact and a sufficient gap is still present at the rear between the two roof halves    
8 Generously line trunk area with protective cover (6) SPECIAL TOOL Protective cover Fig 7
9 Cut out rear window (4) with cutter NOTES When cutting out, the rubber seal (10) vulcanized to the rear window, is damaged. It is therefore always necessary to install a new rear window AR67.20-P-3000-01G

INSTALLING Install     
11 Prepare Vario roof for installing rear window (4). IMPORTANT Allow primer to air-dry for min. 10 minutes. AR67.20-P-3000-04G 
    SPECIAL TOOL Cutting blade, straight, 35 mm blade length
Window removal tool, see GOTIS

12 Insert double sided spacers (7 mm thick) IMPORTANT Do not remove protective foil on top side. AR67.20-P-3000-03G 
13 Prepare new rear window (4) for installation.   AR67.10-P-1000-03P 
14 Align rear window (4) on Vario roof.   AR67.20-P-3000-02G
15 Remove backing foil on spacers    
16 Apply adhesive material to rear window (4). NOTES Install window within 10 minutes before adhesive force of adhesive material starts to decrease.
IMPORTANT Height of glue bead approx. 13 mm Cartridge gun, see GOTIS

17 Glue in rear window (4) IMPORTANT The waiting time (drive-away time) is approx. 4 h calculated from the time the rear window (1) is installed.
Open crank window on vehicle to release air pressure when the doors are closed which could press window outwards.

18 Fasten rear window (4) with two rubber blocks (11) at bottom left and right to prevent Vario roof from slipping off Dimensions of rubber blocks in mm: 20 x10 x14 e.g. in repair kit for installing bonded windows  
19 Install frame seal (3) on Vario roof and fasten with sheet metal holders (2) on left and right    
20 Lift rubber lip (arrow) on rubber channel (10) over frame seal (3) with plastic wedge. SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
21 Connect electrical connections on rear window (4).    
22 Install paneling at rear on Vario roof   AR68.30-P-4360G
23 Install C-pillar paneling   AR68.30-P-4500G
24 Remove protective cover (6) from trunk    
25 Remove rubber blocks (11).    
26 Close Vario roof
