REMOVING Remove     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged leadacid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Disconnect battery ground line    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Disconnect/connect battery's ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003P
2 Remove right front and right rear door sill moldings    
3 Remove paneling from A-pillar in right passenger footwell    
4 Open right wiring duct    
5 Remove rear passenger compartment side trim panel IMPORTANT Right and left side  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install side paneling in rear   AR68.30-P-4780PA
6 Remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connectors.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in rear   AR54.21-P-1259PS
7 Remove EIS control unit (N73) IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connectors.  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Electronic ignition/starter switch (EZS) removal and installation   AR46.10-P-0810P
8.1 Remove TPM with variable speed limiter switch (S40/4) Models fitted with cruise control code 440
IMPORTANT Part discontinued.
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install cruise control switch Up to 23.4.04 with cruise control code 440 AR54.25-P-2803P

9 Remove combination switch (S4)

10 Remove steering column switch module from jacket tube IMPORTANT Part discontinued.

18 Install rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in rear   AR54.21-P-1259PS
19 Install side paneling in rear passenger compartment IMPORTANT Right and left side  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install side paneling in rear   AR68.30-P-4780PA
20 Close right cable duct    
21 Install paneling on A-pillar in right passenger footwell    
22 Install right front and right rear door sill moldings    
23 Connect ground cable to battery    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Disconnect/connect battery's ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003P
24 Read fault memory, erase if necessary IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by removal, test work, removed lines or a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
