Headliner Removal/Installation (Us): Notes

WARNING:
  • Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module.
  1. Perform the headliner preparation. (See HEADLINER PREPARATION .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  3. Remove the following parts:
    1. Front map light (See FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    2. Sun visor (See SUN VISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    5. Front seat belt lower anchor (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Shift lever knob (MTX)
    11. Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    14. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    15. Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    16. Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    17. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    18. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    19. Driver-side air bag module
    20. Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
    21. Sensor cover (See SENSOR COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    22. Rear vent duct No. 2 (with rear vent duct) (See REAR VENT DUCT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    23. Rear vent duct No. 1 (with rear vent duct) (See REAR VENT DUCT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    24. Rear console bracket No. 1 (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
  4. Remove the shift lever nuts and set the shift lever aside to the front passenger-side to rotate the headliner in the vehicle. (MTX)
  5. Remove the selector lever nuts and set the selector lever aside to the front passenger-side to rotate the headliner in the vehicle. (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the bolts.

  7. Disconnect rear washer hose D.

  8. Pull the rear washer hose D in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and pull them out.

  9. Disconnect rear washer hose D from the joint pipe D.

  10. Move the headliner in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and detach the surface fasteners from the sunroof unit. (with sunroof system)

  11. Slide the headliner in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and remove the clips from the headliner.

  12. Take the headliner out from the opened passenger-side door.

  13. Remove the clips from the roof panel.

  14. Install the clip removed in Step 13 to the headliner.

  15. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See HEADLINER INSTALLATION NOTE .)
