Visual Inspection and Pre-checks
- If the selection is available on the scan tool (Body>Security>Phone as a Key Functions), make sure the passive entry/passive start feature is enabled. If disabled, the vehicle only starts with the key in the backup starting location.
- B1 VERIFY DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) IS STILL PRESENT
- Turn off mobile device bluetooth.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the RFA module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the RFA module self-test
Are any antenna related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
Yes GO to B2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by invalid signal from the bluetooth. - B2 CHECK THE BLUETOOTH ANTENNA VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect RFA module C3860.
- Disconnect the suspect antenna.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

- Ignition ON.

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new bluetooth antenna. REFER to: Exterior Front Door Handle . REFER to: Exterior Rear Door Handle . REFER to: Bluetooth Rear Exterior Antenna . REFER to: Bluetooth Floor Console Antenna . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, GO to B8 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B8 CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA (REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR) MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the RFA module connector C3860.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals, clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the RFA module connector and make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to: Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
