Removal [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [10/2022 - 08/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2023 - ]

  3. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2022 - ]

  4. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2022 - 08/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [08/2023 - ]

  5. SECURE STEERING WHEEL

  6. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

  18. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  19. DRAIN COOLANT (for Intercooler)

  20. DRAIN ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  21. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID

  22. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      1. Disengage the 3 clips and remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
        NOTE:

        Pull the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly straight up when removing. If the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly is not pulled straight up when removing, it may become damaged.

  24. REMOVE EV CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

  25. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      1. Remove the EFI fuel pipe clamp (Fuel Tube Sub-assembly Side) from the fuel tube connector.
      2. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2022 - ]

  26. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  27. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 30

  28. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INVERTER COOLING OUTLET HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  29. DISCONNECT SUCTION HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [10/2022 - 08/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [08/2023 - ]
  30. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [10/2022 - 08/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [08/2023 - ]
  31. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting a wire harness of any component connected to the supply power of the integrated capacitor (integration control supply) or when removing the integrated capacitor (integration control supply), make sure to wait 5 minutes or more after turning the ignition switch off for self-diagnosis to complete and the voltage of the integrated capacitor (integration control supply) to discharge.

    HINT: After disconnecting the wire harness, secure it with tape or equivalent to keep it out of the way.

      Attachment Installation Position - -
      1. Set the engine assembly with transaxle on an engine lifter.
        NOTE:
        • Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the engine assembly with transaxle level.
        • Do not perform any procedures while the engine assembly is suspended because doing so may cause the engine assembly to drop, resulting in injury. However, the engine assembly needs to be suspended when it is installed to or removed from an engine stand.
        • To prevent the engine assembly from unexpectedly moving, securely support the engine assembly until it is secured to an engine stand.
        • To prevent the No. 2 oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments under the No. 2 oil pan sub-assembly of the engine assembly with transaxle.

      Bolt Nut
      1. Remove the 3 bolts and nut and separate the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH from the engine mounting bracket RH.
      2. Remove the 4 bolts and separate the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly LH from the transaxle assembly with motor and inverter.
      3. Remove the 2 bolts (A), 2 bolts (B) and 4 nuts and front bumper extension sub-assembly LH and front bumper extension sub-assembly RH from the front frame assembly and vehicle body.
      4. Remove the 2 bolts (C), 4 bolts (D) and front suspension member brace rear LH and front suspension member brace rear RH from the front frame assembly and vehicle body.
      5. Operate the engine lifter and remove the engine assembly with transaxle from the vehicle.
        NOTE:
        • Make sure that the engine assembly with transaxle is clear of all wiring and hoses.
        • While lowering the engine assembly with transaxle from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
    3. Remove the No. 1 wiring harness heat insulator.

  45. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 
    NOTE:
    • Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.
    • Do not perform any procedures while the engine assembly is suspended because doing so may cause the engine assembly to drop, resulting in injury. However, the engine assembly needs to be suspended when it is installed to or removed from an engine stand.

      *1 No. 1 Engine Hanger *2 No. 2 Engine Hanger
      1. Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger with the 4 bolts as shown in the illustration.

        Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        No. 1 Engine Hanger 12281-25080
        No. 2 Engine Hanger 12282-25060
        Bolt 90105-A0354
      2. Using an engine sling device and engine lift, secure the engine assembly with transaxle.
  46. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY

  47. REMOVE NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  48. REMOVE NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY

  49. REMOVE STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR

  50. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7
  51. REMOVE TCM 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
  52. REMOVE NO. 1 TCM BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  53. DISCONNECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  54. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  55. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  56. REMOVE HV WATER PUMP BRACKET

  57. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY

    • Do not apply or add any oil or grease to the belt tensioner to prevent abnormal noises from the belt tensioner pulley, belt squealing, etc.
    • Do not allow oil or grease to adhere to the moving parts of the belt tensioner, as this may cause malfunctions.
