Removal [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2015 - ] ).

  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ] ).

  4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ]

  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Raise the front of the V-bank cover to detach the 3 pins. Then remove the 2 V-bank cover hooks from the bracket, and remove the V-bank cover.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  8. REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING B 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  10. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING D 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING A 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  12. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING C 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  13. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER AIR DUCT 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] )

  14. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  15. REMOVE FRONT FENDER MAIN SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  16. REMOVE FRONT FENDER MAIN SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  17. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  18. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  19. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  20. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  21. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 hood support bolts and disconnect the hood supports.

      WARNING:

      Remove the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and hood.
  22. DRAIN ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [09/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [08/2020 - ]

  23. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  24. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  25. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner.

  26. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 
  27. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE 
  28. REMOVE FAN SHROUD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  29. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  30. REMOVE WATER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  31. DISCONNECT FUEL MAIN AND RETURN HOSE 
    1. Remove the fuel pipe clamp.

    2. Disconnect the fuel main and return hoses (Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2015 - ] ).
  32. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND HOSE 
    1. Disconnect the purge line hose.

    2. Disconnect the clamp and ECM connector.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the following procedures to disconnect the ECM connector (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 ).

    3. Disconnect the 5 connectors and clamp from the connector holder block.

    4. Disconnect the 2 air pump connectors and 3 clamps.

    5. Remove the nut and connector bracket.
    6. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
    7. Disconnect the 2 air injection system hoses.
    8. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire from the positive (+) battery cable.

    9. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.
    10. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire and clamp from the body.
    11. Disconnect the 4 air injection control driver connectors.

    12. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire and 2 clips from the engine room junction block.
    13. Disconnect the 2 connectors and 2 clips from the engine room junction block.
    14. Disconnect the 2 connectors and 2 clamps.

  33. DISCONNECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  34. DISCONNECT VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 31

  35. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  36. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

  37. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY

  38. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  39. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  41. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front propeller shaft (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] ).
  42. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear propeller shaft (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] ).
  43. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  44. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  45. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  46. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  47. REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  48. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  49. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  50. REMOVE STARTER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  51. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  52. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the automatic transmission (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] ).
  53. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and engine mounting heat insulator.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting insulator from the transmission.
  54. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      • SST: 09213-70011 
      • SST: 09330-00021 
    2. Remove the 10 bolts, rear drive plate spacer, drive plate and crankshaft position sensor rotor.

  55. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the oil cooler tube.

  56. REMOVE WATER PIPE AND HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the hose. Then remove the water pipe and hose.

  57. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install 2 engine hangers with 2 bolts as shown in the illustration.

      Bolt 90119-14120

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
    3. Remove the 4 engine mounting insulator bolts.

    4. Lift the engine out from the vehicle slowly and carefully.
      NOTE:

      Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.

      Remove the nut and mounting insulator.

  59. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH

      Remove the nut and mounting insulator.

  60. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and engine mounting bracket LH.

  61. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND 
    1. Install the engine onto an engine stand with bolts.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers.
