Removal [09/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (for HFO-1234yf(R1234yf)) 

    See step  1

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (for HFC-134a(R134a)) 

    See step  1

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2020 - ]

  4. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE A 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose A.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose A.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

      HINT: 

      Make sure to install the clip at the same positions as the removed clip.

  5. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE A 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose A.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose A.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

      HINT: 

      Make sure to install the clip at the same positions as the removed clip.

  6. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  7. DISCONNECT COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE A 
    1. Disconnect the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]

  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2020 - ]

  11. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY WITH MAIN BODY ECU 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  13. REMOVE CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY (w/ Parking Support Alert System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw and No. 2 air duct sub-assembly.

  15. REMOVE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  16. REMOVE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  17. REMOVE STEREO COMPONENT EQUALIZER ASSEMBLY (w/ ASC System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  18. REMOVE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  19. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  20. REMOVE COOLER (ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector and air hose to remove the cooler (room temp. sensor) thermistor.

  21. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PAD 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the accelerator pedal pad.

  22. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly from the rod of the accelerator pedal sensor assembly.
  23. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET HOOK 
    1. Disengage the 4 clamps and disconnect the wire harness.

    2. Disengage the 4 clamps to remove the 4 floor carpet hooks.

  24. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip.

    2. Disengage the guide and clamp.
    3. Disengage each fastener and turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.
    4. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the rear No. 2 air duct.

  25. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD LH (for 2WD)

  28. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD (for AWD) 
    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.

  29. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT (for AWD) 
    1. Remove the clip or nut and rear No. 1 air duct.

    1. Disengage the guide and clamp.

    2. Disengage the fastener and turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.
    3. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the rear No. 4 air duct.

  32. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD RH 
    1. Remove the front floor silencer pad RH.

  33. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT 
    1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the wire harness.

    2. Remove the rear No. 3 air duct.
  34. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT 
    1. Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and No. 1 console box duct.
  35. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FLOOR BRACE (for 2WD) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the No. 2 instrument panel to floor brace.
  36. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FLOOR BRACE (for AWD) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.

    2. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the No. 2 instrument panel to floor brace.
  37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP 
    1. Put protective tape around the 6 instrument panel safety pad caps.

    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 instrument panel safety pad caps (A) and 2 instrument panel safety pad caps (B).
  38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING UNIT 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
    • When disassembling the air conditioning unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 earth wires.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.
    3. Disconnect each connector.
    4. Disengage each clamp.
    5. Remove the 3 hole plugs.

    6. Remove the 3 bolts.

    7. Remove the nut and 8 bolts as shown in the illustration.

    8. Disengage the 3 guides and remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioning unit as shown in the illustration.

    9. Disengage the claw and 2 guides and disconnect the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) as shown in the illustration.

  39. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws, 3 bolts and air conditioning unit assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
