Removal [04/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to PRECAUTION [06/2014 - 10/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2020 - ]

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2014 - 08/2015] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2020 - 11/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2023 - ]

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [04/2013 - 08/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [09/2020 - ]

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [04/2013 - 08/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2016 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [09/2020 - ]

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [04/2013 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [09/2020 - ]

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [04/2013 - 10/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24 [09/2020 - ]

  7. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      *a Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts.

    5. Disengage the 6 claws and 2 guides to separate the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      NOTE:

      When separating the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      HINT: 

      Separate the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly from inside the vehicle.

    6. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    7. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
