Test 8A - Repairing Parking Light Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see Figure .
NOTE: Perform TEST 1A  before proceeding.
  1. If headlights do not flash, go to TEST 8B  . If headlights flash, turn parking lights on. If parking lights do not come on, see the STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section for repair. If parking lights come on, ensure ignition is off and disconnect the VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A. Also, refer to VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed.
  2. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage of park/taillight control circuit at VTA module connector terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open park/taillight control (Dark Blue/Red wire). Perform TEST VER-1A  .
  3. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused battery feed circuit at VTA module connector terminal No. 9 (Black/Tan wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 8D  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, check voltage of fused battery feed circuit at VTA module connector terminal No. 21 (Light Green/Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 8C  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace VTA module. See VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform TEST VER-1A  .
