Test 8C - Repairing Battery Feed Input Circuit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see Figure
.
NOTE:
Perform the following tests listed below before proceeding.
- Remove fuse No. 7 and inspect. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is open, ensure ignition is off and disconnect VTA module connector. See VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Also, see Figure . Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance at VTA module connector terminal No. 21 (Light Green/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in fused battery feed circuit (Light Green/Black wire). Replace the fuse and perform TEST VER-1A . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace the fuse and perform TEST VER-1A .
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage at left side of fuse No. 7 receptacle (Red/Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open battery feed circuit (Red/Yellow wire). Perform TEST VER-1A . If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open fused battery feed circuit (Light Green/Black wire). Perform TEST VER-1A .
