Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Cadillac)

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Front Floor Console Replacement (Cadillac) .
  3. Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel with defroster nozzle. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (Except Cadillac) .
  5. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Cadillac) .
  6. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Cadillac) .
  7. Remove the left instrument panel deflector. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Deflector Replacement - Left Side (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Deflector Replacement - Left Side (Cadillac) .
  8. Remove the headlamp switch bezel assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Bezel Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Headlamp Switch Bezel Replacement (Cadillac) .
  9. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Cluster Replacement (Cadillac) .
  10. Remove the knee bolster assembly. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Knee Bolster Replacement (Cadillac) .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Without HP2) , Steering Column Replacement (HP2) , Steering Column Replacement (Without HP2 With Electric Tilt Column) .
  12. Remove the instrument panel center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Except Cadillac) .
  13. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement (Cadillac) .
  14. Remove the instrument panel clock assembly. Refer to Clock Replacement .
  15. Remove the instrument panel accessory switch assembly. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement (Cadillac) , Accessory Switch Replacement (Except Cadillac) .
  16. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  17. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Radio Replacement (Cadillac) .
  18. Remove the instrument panel compartment door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement (Cadillac) .
  19. Remove the instrument panel access hole cover panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (Cadillac) .
1 Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Nut (Qty: 4)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
2 Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Bolt/Screw (Qty: 10)
Tighten 
2 N.m (18 lb in)
3 Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Assembly
  1. Prior to removing the trim panel from the carrier support assembly, note the routing of the wiring to aid in the reassembly.
  2. Disconnect all electrical connections.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
