Preliminary Procedures Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling . Remove the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Front Floor Console Replacement (Cadillac) . Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement . Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel with defroster nozzle. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (Except Cadillac) . Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement (Cadillac) . Remove the left instrument panel deflector. Remove the instrument panel clock assembly. Refer to Clock Replacement . Remove the instrument panel accessory switch assembly. 1	Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Nut (Qty: 4) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
2	Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Bolt/Screw (Qty: 10) Tighten 2 N.m (18 lb in)
3	Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Assembly Prior to removing the trim panel from the carrier support assembly, note the routing of the wiring to aid in the reassembly. Disconnect all electrical connections. With the aid of an assistant, remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
