Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LF4) .
  2. Disconnect the engine oil level switch.
  3. Detach the engine oil level switch harness from the oil pan and position aside.
  4. Remove the front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement (LF4) .
  5. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (LF4) .
  6. Remove the drivetrain front cradle. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LF4) .
  7. Remove the engine mount brackets. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side (LF4) , and Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side (LF4) .
  8. Remove the engine oil cooler adapter assembly. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Adapter Replacement (LF4) .

  9. Remove the electrical wiring harness retainers (1) then reposition the wiring harness away from the engine oil pan.

  10. Remove the bolt (1) from the transmission cooler line retainer then reposition the cooler lines (2) to allow engine oil pan removal.

  11. Remove the lower bolt (1) from the oil filter adapter.
  12. Remove the catalytic converter brace bracket. Refer to Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (LF4)

  13. Remove the oil pan to transmission bolts (1).

  14. Remove the oil pan bolts (1) and (2).

  15. Remove the oil pan (1).
  16. Clean the oil pan and engine block gasket sealing surface. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection (LF4) .
  17. Disassemble the oil pan as necessary. Refer to Oil Pan Assemble (LF4) .
