Installation Procedure

  1. Install the engine to the transmission. Transmission Replacement (M5N with LGX Engine) .
  2. Install Transfer Case - Transfer Case Assembly Replacement
  3. Place the powertrain and frame assembly on the engine support table.
  4. Secure the powertrain to the support table using straps and binders.
  5. With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the body onto the powertrain assembly.
  6. Ensure when lowering the body the following items are clear from the frame:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses
    • Oil cooler lines
  7. Attach the front wheel drive shafts to the powertrain. Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side , and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  8. Install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with the powertrain attached. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX, LTG) .
  9. Remove the engine support table.
  10. Complete installation of the transfer case. Transfer Case Assembly Replacement .
  11. Complete installation of the transmission. Transmission Replacement (M5N with LGX Engine) .
  12. Install Catalytic Converter - Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LGX) , and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LGX)
  13. Connect Electrical Connector@Air Conditioning Refrigerant Pressure Sensor - Air Conditioning (A/C) Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Replacement (LF4, LGX)

  14. Attach the transmission control harness retainer (2) to the bracket.
  15. Connect Electrical Connector (1)@Transmission Control Module - Transmission Control Module Replacement
  16. Engine Lower Front Splash Shield - Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive)Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  17. Install Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  18. Lower the vehicle.

  19. Position the harness (2)
  20. Connect Harness Connector (1)
  21. Connect Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe@Radiator Assembly - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With AWD, Without V03)

  22. Connect Air Conditioning Compressor Hose (1) @Air Conditioning Compressor - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LGX)

  23. Connect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose (1) @Power Brake Booster
  24. Connect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor@Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose (1)
  25. Install Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube - Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (LGX)

  26. Connect Fuel Line (1) @Fuel Feed Pipe - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Fuel Tank To Engine LGX)Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (LGX at Engine)

  27. Connect Heater Outlet Hose (1) @Radiator Surge Tank
  28. Connect Heater Outlet Hose (1) @Heater Core

  29. Connect Heater Inlet Hose (1) @Heater Core
  30. Remove mechanics wire that supported the radiator assembly to the vehicle body.
  31. Reposition and connect harnesses as necessary.

  32. Connect Radiator Outlet Hose (1) @Water Pump

  33. Connect Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (2) @Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe

  34. Connect Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @Water Outlet
  35. Position the engine harness.
  36. Install Engine Control Module Bracket- Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement (LGX)

  37. Install the battery terminal (1) to the jump start post.
  38. Install the air cleaner assembly. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LGX)
  39. Install the front compartment front sight shield. Front Compartment Front Sight Shield Replacement (Sedan)Front Compartment Front Sight Shield Replacement (Coupe)
  40. Install Intake Manifold Insulator- Intake Manifold Insulator Replacement (LGX) 
  41. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  42. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
  43. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LGX, AWD) 
    44. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  44. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
  45. Charge the A/C system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
  46. Perform the throttle learn procedure. Throttle or Idle Learn (LGX)
