Pinpoint Test V: B1087:83 Or B1087:87

  1. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagrams for schematic and connector information. Refer to Power Windows for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The DDM and PDM communicate with the corresponding RDM over a LIN. The window control switch on the driver door also provides information to the DDM over the same LIN. In the event of a failure on a LIN, the power windows, power locks and switch illumination are inoperative in the corresponding rear door. If there is a LIN failure for the DDM, the controls from the driver window control switch are also inoperative.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
DDM B1087:83 LIN Bus "A": Value Of Signal Protection Calculation Incorrect Sets when the DDM receives invalid data over the LIN.
DDM B1087:87 LIN Bus "A": Missing Message Sets when the DDM is missing a signal over the LIN.
PDM B1087:83 LIN Bus "A": Value Of Signal Protection Calculation Incorrect Sets when the PDM receives invalid data over the LIN.
PDM B1087:87 LIN Bus "A": Missing Message Sets when the PDM is missing a signal over the LIN.

    Possible Sources

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Window control switch
    • DRDM
    • PRDM
    • PDM
    • DDM

  2. V1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE LEFT REAR AND RIGHT REAR POWER WINDOWS FROM THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

    • Ignition ON.

    • Operate the left rear and right rear power windows from the master window control switch.

Do the power windows operate on both sides?

Yes  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
No  If a DTC is set in the DDM, GO to  V2 If a DTC is set in the PDM, GO to  V3
  3. V2 ISOLATE THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect Master Window Control Switch C535.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • NOTE: DTC U2013:01 or U2013:87 may set and should be ignored.

Using a diagnostic scan tool, repeat the DDM self-test.

    Is DTC B1087:83 or B1087:87

    Yes  GO to  V3
No  INSTALL a new master window control switch.
  4. V3 CHECK THE LIN (LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect DDM C501A and DRDM C728 (if DTC sets in the DDM).

    • Disconnect PDM C652A and PRDM C832 (if DTC sets in the PDM).

    • Ignition ON.

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes  INSTALL a new rear door module for the module in question. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and REPEAT the self-test. If the concern still exists, GO to  V6
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  7. V6 CHECK FOR CORRECT FRONT DOOR MODULE OPERATION

    • Disconnect and inspect all the DDM or PDM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the DDM or PDM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new front door module for the module in question. REFER to: Front Door Module (FDM) .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
