Symptom Chart

NOTE: Refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Sable) or SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Taurus) for the connector numbers stated in the Pinpoint Tests.
SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
No communication with the generic electronic module (GEM)
  • CJB.
  • Circuitry.
  • GEM.
 REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULE .
The autolamps are inoperative-all auto head/park lamps
  • CJB Fuse 29 (15A).
  • Circuitry.
  • Photocell and amplifier.
  • Headlamp switch.
  • GEM.
 Go To PINPOINT TEST H .
The headlamps are inoperative with autolamps on
  • Circuitry.
  • CJB.
  • GEM.
  • Autolamp headlamp relay.
 Go To PINPOINT TEST I .
The parklamps are inoperative with autolamps on.
  • CJB.
  • GEM.
  • Autolamp headlamp relay.
 Go To PINPOINT TEST J .
The autolamps are on continuously
  • Circuitry.
  • Headlamp switch.
  • Photocell and amplifier.
  • GEM.
  • CJB.
 Go To PINPOINT TEST K .
  • Photocell and amplifier covered by opaque material/obstructed.
 REMOVE the obstruction.
