Body - Interior & Exterior: Interior: Headliner: Removal
CAUTION:
Be careful not to crease the headliner.
CAUTION:
Hands should be clean or clean cloth gloves used when handling the headliner to avoid damage to the headliner.
NOTE:
In the event the headliner is damaged or creased during removal, it will need to be replaced with a new headliner.
NOTE:
Sunroof equipped headliner shown in the illustration, non sunroof headliner similar except where noted.
- On sunroof equipped models, open the sunshade and sunroof fully.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the overhead console (1). Refer to CONSOLE, OVERHEAD, REMOVAL .
- Remove the sun visors. Refer to VISOR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the sun visors supports. Refer to SUPPORT, VISOR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the four grab handles (3). Refer to HANDLE, GRAB, REMOVAL .
- Remove the dome light. Refer to LAMP, DOME, REMOVAL
.
- Use a suitable prop to hold the headliner in place.
- Remove the A-pillar trim (1 and 2). Refer to PANEL, A-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the upper B-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, UPPER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, C-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the weatherstrips along the headliner perimeter in the door openings (3) and liftgate (1) areas.
- Release the rear seat backrests and rotate the seats fully forward.
- Position the front seat back rests fully forward.
- With the use of (special tool #C-4829A, Remover, Trim) or equivalent, remove the rear push pin fasteners (4) from the headliner (2).
- With the help of an assistant, remove the headliner (2) from the vehicle through the liftgate opening.
