Test 6A - Checking Intermittent DTCS

NOTE: Perform TEST 4A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Inspect ground connections on back of engine. Repair as needed. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect TCM connector ground terminals No. 13 and 17 and battery supply terminal No. 16. On all other models, inspect terminals No. 53 and 57 and battery supply terminal No. 56. Repair as needed.
  2. Inspect power supply circuit to TCM relay. Repair as needed. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect TCM connector, terminal No. 51. On all other models, inspect TCM connector, terminal No. 11. If all connectors are okay, for additional information you can see INTERMITTENT CODE TCM PIN INSPECTION  . Inspect TCM pins and repair as needed.
  3. If procedures in steps 1) and 2) fail to diagnose problem, erase DTCs using scan tool. Set reset counter equal to zero. Road test vehicle. If transaxle is still not functioning correctly, go to TEST 46A  .

(1) Clear trouble code. Requires no action.
(2) Check TCM relay and connector.
(3) Inspect PCM terminals No. 5, 26, 44, 46, 59, 60.
(4) Check Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch connector and transmission range switch connector.
(5) Check throttle position switch connector.
(6) Check input and output sensor connectors.
