Test 14A - Throttle Position (TP) Signal (DTC 29)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Start vehicle. If CHECK ENGINE light is illuminated, see appropriate BASIC TESTING article. If CHECK ENGINE LIGHT in not illuminated, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCM connector. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect terminals No. 11 and 52 of TCM connector. Clean or repair as needed. On all other models, inspect terminals No. 12 and 51 of TCM connector. Clean or repair as needed.
- Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 52 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 12 of TCM connector. On all models, if voltage is .5-1.0 volts, go to TEST 6A . If voltage is not .5-1.0 volts, go to next step.
- If voltage is zero volts, repair open TP sensor signal circuit. If voltage is not zero volts, slowly open and close throttle while monitoring scan tool. If voltage change is erratic, replace TP sensor. If voltage change is smooth and even, go to next step.
- Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 11 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance on terminal No. 51 of TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open TP ground circuit. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, replace TCM.
