Test 11A - Od Pressure Switch Sense Circuit (DTC 21)

NOTE: Perform TEST 2A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect solenoid pack connector. Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 5 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if resistance is 500 ohms or less, go to step 4). If resistance is more than 500 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, read OD pressure switch status. Record test result. DO NOT  exit test. On F24S and FJ22 models, connect and disconnect (4-6 times) jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 5 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, connect and disconnect (4-6 times) jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 3 of solenoid pack connector.
  3. Using scan tool, read OD pressure switch status. If switch status toggles between CLOSED and OPEN, go to TEST 11B  . If switch status does not toggle between CLOSED and OPEN, go to TEST 11C  .
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 49 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 9 of TCM connector.
  5. On all models, if resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair OD pressure switch sense circuit for short to ground.
  6. Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 5 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 49 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 3 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 9 of TCM connector.
  7. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open OD pressure switch sense circuit.
