Test 11C - Od Pressure Switch Sense Circuit
NOTE:
Perform TEST 11A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Remove jumper wire. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 6 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 56 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 4 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 16 of TCM connector.
- On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open transmission control relay output circuit.
- Connect TCM connector. Connect solenoid pack connector. Connect a 0-300 psi gauge to OD pressure port. See AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - CHRYSLER 41TE/AE article. Disconnect transmission control relay. Turn ignition on.
- Connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "D" of transmission control relay connector. Raise and support vehicle. Apply service brakes and start vehicle. DO NOT allow wheels to rotate. Move shift lever to OD position. Using scan tool, actuate OD solenoid. Read and record pressure gauge reading. It may be necessary to raise engine RPM slightly above idle.
- If pressure gauge reading fluctuates between 0 and 75-95 psi, replace solenoid pack. If pressure does not fluctuate, but is less than 5 psi, replace solenoid pack. If pressure is more than 5 psi, code may be set by the following causes;
- Low or high fluid level.
- Short or open overdrive pressure switch, kickdown pressure switch, and/or low-reverse pressure switch circuits.
- Solenoid pack internal malfunction.
- Internal transmission axle malfunction.
- Damaged or pushed out TCM terminals No. 7, 10, 49 for FS24 and FJ22 models, or terminals 9, 47 or 50 for all other models.
