Removal Procedure
Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) - Remove - Fuel Feed Front Pipe Replacement
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LCV, LGX) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LCV, LGX)
- Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
- Remove the battery tray. Battery Tray Replacement
Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (4) - Disconnect - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
- Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose @ Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Disconnect - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose (1) @ Engine Assembly - Disconnect and position aside - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement (LCV)
Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose (1) - Remove - Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose Replacement
Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Engine Assembly - Disconnect and position aside - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine Assembly - Disconnect and position aside - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
Heater Inlet Hose (3) - Remove - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV)
Heater Inlet Hose Connector (2) @ Heater Inlet Hose Bracket - Remove - Heater Inlet Hose Connector Replacement (LCV at Heater Inlet Hose Bracket)
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (3) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Remove - Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (LCV)
- NOTE:
Disconnect the left and right sides. Left side shown, right side similar.
Disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. (3) Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe (1) @ Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Disconnect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection
Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe (1) @ Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Inlet Pipe (2) - Disconnect - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection
- NOTE:
Disconnect the left and right sides. Left side shown, right side similar.
Front Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Front Stabilizer Shaft - Separate - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1), then disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LCV)
- Left Front Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LCV with FWD)
- Connect the engine support fixture hooks to the engine lift brackets.
- Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
- With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.
Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Remove [2x] - Engine Mount Replacement
Left Transmission Mount Bolt (3) - Remove [4x] - Transmission Mount Replacement (Left)
- Remove the cradle to body bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (FWD)
- Electrical Connector @ Transmission - Disconnect
- Disconnect the steering gear electrical connector.
- Carefully lower the engine table and raise the body on the hoist until the engine/transaxle and cradle are separated from the vehicle.
- Separate the engine from the transaxle. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive) , or Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)
- Install the engine to a suitable engine stand.
During the powertrain removal support the vehicle body by placing a jack at the rear of the vehicle.
Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the cradle and the oil pan to table in order to level the powertrain during the removal.
Remove ONLY the body to cradle bolts as the powertrain will be removed while still bolted to the cradle.
