Removal Procedure
- Engine Control Module and Electronic Brake Control Module Bracket - Remove - Engine Control Module and Electronic Brake Control Module Bracket Replacement
Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (1) - Remove
- Slide the retainer lock (2) forward to expose the cable adjustment retainer (3).
- Using a suitable tool, raise the cable adjustment retainer (3) to the unlock position.
- Remove the range selector lever cable (4) from the range selector lever cable lever and the range selector lever cable bracket.
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement
Disconnect the auxiliary fluid accumulator electrical connector (1).
Generator and Starter Cable (1) - Unclip [5x]
Disconnect the control valve body transmission control module electrical connector (1), then unclip the 12 wiring harness retainers (2) from the cover.
Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Nut (1, 2) - Remove [3x]
- Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (5) - Remove
- Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (3, 4) - Remove [2x]
- Position ground cable and harness aside.
- Remove the range selector lever cable bracket. Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket Replacement
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe @ Transmission - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe @ Transmission - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
- Plug and/or cap the pipes and the transmission to prevent contamination.
Remove the 3 transmission upper bolts (1).
- NOTE:
The graphic shows the radiator without the front bumper fascia in front of it, for the sake of clarity.
Lash the radiator (2) to the body, using 2 suitable belts (1).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

- Front Compartment Insulator - Remove - Front Compartment Insulator Replacement
- Front Wheelhouse Liner - Remove [2x] - Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
- Transmission Fluid - Drain - Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
- Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Remove - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement
- Transmission Mount Strut Bracket - Remove - Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement
- Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft @ Transmission - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
Secure the right drive shaft (2) to the hoist (1), using a lashing strap (3).
- Left Front Wheel Drive Shaft @ Transmission - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
Secure the left drive shaft (1) to the hoist (3), using a lashing strap (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Engine Sight Shield - Remove - Engine Sight Shield Replacement
- Engine Support Fixture - Install - Engine Support Fixture
Apply tension to the EN-51007 support (1).
- Transmission Mount Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]
- Lower the engine/transmission unit about 4 cm (1.57 in), using the EN-51007 support.
Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Unclip [2x]
- Raise the vehicle.
- Starter - Remove - Starter Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
Torque Converter @ Flex Plate - Loosen
- Turn the engine at the crankshaft pulley (2) clockwise with the EN-49979 holder (3) along with the EN-49979-100 pins and the EN-956-1 extension (4) until a torque converter bolt (1) shows up.
- Remove and DISCARD the first torque converter bolt (1).
- Turn the engine at the crankshaft pulley clockwise 60 degrees.
- Remove and DISCARD the second torque converter bolt.
- Repeat the previous 2 steps until the sixth torque converter bolt is removed.
Remove the transmission lower bolt (1).
Remove the transmission lower bolt (1).
- Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
Loosen the transmission front lower bolt (1) completely. The thread must NOT be engaged to the transmission.
Remove the transmission rear bolt (1)
- Remove the transmission converter cover (2).
- NOTE:
This is the last transmission bolt.
Remove the transmission front upper bolt (1).
- Transmission @ Engine - Remove
- Lower the transmission with the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
- Inspect the transmission oil cooler and lines for leaks or damage.
Ensure the torque converter remains securely in place on the transmission input shaft while separating and removing the transmission.
