Installation Procedure

  1. Raise the transmission with the transmission jack and position the transmission to the engine.
  2. Install the clutch housing cover (4), oxygen sensor connector bracket (3) and the engine starter cable bracket (2).

  3. Install the transmission lower bolts (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Remove the jack stand.
  5. Install the left transmission mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side .
  6. Install the left transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
  7. Install the transmission rear mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement .
  8. Install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement .
  9. Install the 4 NEW torque converter bolts (1) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  10. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (without Start/Stop)Starter Replacement (LV7) .
  11. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (LV7)Engine Support Fixture (L5Q) .
  12. Install the transmission upper bolts (1) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).

  13. Install the transmission upper nut (2) and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
  14. Position the transmission wiring harness bracket (2) on the transmission.

  15. Install the transmission wiring harness bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  16. Install the front wheel drive shaft to the transmission. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  17. Install the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (L5Q)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LV7) .
  18. Install the transmission fluid cooler pipes to the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement .
  19. Connect the secondary speed sensor electrical connector (1).

  20. Connect the output speed sensor electrical connector (2).
  21. Clip in the wiring harness retainers (3) to the transmission and engine starter cable bracket.
  22. Connect the park/neutral position (PNP) switch electrical connector (1).

  23. Connect the primary speed sensor electrical connector (2).
  24. Connect the oxygen sensor electrical connector (3).
  25. Clip in the connector clip (4) and wiring harness retainers (5) to the transmission and brackets.
  26. Clip in the transmission air breather hose clip (6) to the engine wiring harness bracket.
  27. Align the marking (1) on the transmission harness connector terminal with the marking (2) on bayonet ring (3) to insert the connector.

  28. Rotate the bayonet ring (3) clockwise until the marking (1) on the transmission harness connector terminal body is aligned with the slit (2) on bayonet ring.

    NOTE:
    • Securely align the marking on the harness connector terminal body with the bayonet ring slit. Then, be careful not to make a half fit condition.
    • Never mistake the slit of the bayonet ring for other dent portion.
  29. Perform the transmission fluid cooler flushing and flow test. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing .
  30. Install the transmission range selector lever cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .
  31. Adjust the automatic transmission range selector lever cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
  32. Install the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  33. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (without Engine Block Heater)Battery Tray Replacement (with Engine Block Heater) .
  34. Fill and check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill (Maintenance) Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill (Repair) .
  35. Reset the TCM to erase the learned data and calibration data using the scan tool.
  36. Perform the transmission service fast learn procedure when replaced. Refer to Transmission Service Fast Learn Procedure (MR8) .
