Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position and lock it in place.
  2. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
  3. Remove the steering column dash seal. Refer to Steering Column Dash Inner Seal Replacement .
  4. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  5. Remove both of the front bumper fascia opening lower covers. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement .
  6. Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
  7. Remove both of the front wheelhouse liners. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement .
  8. Secure the condenser, radiator and fan module to the upper body structure with a wire.
  9. Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (L5Q)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LV7) .
  10. Disconnect both of the steering gear tie rod ends from the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
  11. Remove both of the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  12. Disconnect both of the control arm ball joints from the steering knuckles. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  13. Disconnect the transmission rear mount from the transmission rear mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
  14. Remove the front bumper impact bar bolts without the removal of front bumper fascia and disconnect the front bumper lower impact bar from the cradle. Refer to Front Bumper Lower Impact Bar Replacement .
  15. Support the cradle using the hydraulic jack.
  16. Remove the cradle bracket bolts (1).

  17. Remove the cradle front bolts (1) and washers (2) and cradle rear bolts (3) and washers (4).

  18. Slowly lower the hydraulic jack and remove the cradle from the vehicle.
  19. Remove the following components, if replacing the cradle.
