Steering Column Dash Inner Seal Replacement

Preliminary Procedure Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
1	Steering Column Dash Seal Procedure Ensure that the steering wheel is set in a straight ahead position and centered. Lift the rubber lip of a steering column dash seal upward to reduce the friction when the steering column dash seal is rotated. Push the steering column dash seal and then rotate it clockwise that the broken line on the seal is in alignment with the yellow mark in the steering gear pinion. Remove the steering column dash seal from the steering gear. Position the steering column dash inner seal over the steering gear that the white embossed mark on the seal is in alignment with the yellow mark in the steering gear pinion. Ensure the lip on the seal is positioned correctly.

Steering Column Dash Seal

Procedure

Ensure that the steering wheel is set in a straight ahead position and centered.
Lift the rubber lip of a steering column dash seal upward to reduce the friction when the steering column dash seal is rotated.
Push the steering column dash seal and then rotate it clockwise that the broken line on the seal is in alignment with the yellow mark in the steering gear pinion.
Remove the steering column dash seal from the steering gear.
Position the steering column dash inner seal over the steering gear that the white embossed mark on the seal is in alignment with the yellow mark in the steering gear pinion. Ensure the lip on the seal is positioned correctly.
