Removal Procedure

- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief

- Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Remove Battery Tray -Battery Tray Replacement
- Remove Intake Manifold Cover (3) - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
- Remove Air Cleaner Assembly (2) -Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
- Disconnect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe (1) - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Remove Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) -Fuel Feed Front Pipe Replacement
- Remove Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) -Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement
- Disconnect Heater Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG with KL9)
- Disconnect Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG with KL9)
- Disconnect Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG with KL9)
- Disconnect Air Conditioning Evaporator Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose (2) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Air Conditioning Evaporator Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG)
- Disconnect Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod (3) @ Steering Knuckle - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Disconnect Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Stabilizer Shaft - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Equinox)Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Terrain)
- Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1), then disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Equinox)Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Terrain) .
- Remove Exhaust Front Pipe - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LTG)
- Remove the front lower control arm ball stud nuts (1) then disconnect the lower control arms from the steering knuckles. Lower Control Arm Replacement (Equinox)Lower Control Arm Replacement (Terrain) .
- Remove Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- Remove Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft- Right Side - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)
- Remove Propeller Shaft - Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
- Disconnect the range selector lever cable terminal from the transmission manual shift lever.
- Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
- Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the frame and the oil pan to table in order to level the powertrain during the removal.
- With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.
- Remove Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Engine Mount Replacement
- Remove Transmission Mount - Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side M3U)Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side M3D/M3H)
- Remove the frame to body bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (All Wheel Drive) .
- Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.
- Carefully lower the engine table and raise the body on the hoist until the engine/transaxle and frame are separated from the vehicle.
- Separate the engine from the transaxle. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
- Install the engine to a suitable engine stand.
NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
NOTE:
During the powertrain removal support the vehicle body by placing a jack at the rear of the vehicle.
NOTE:
Remove ONLY the body to frame bolts as the powertrain will be removed while still bolted to the frame.
