Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the engine to the transaxle. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  2. Position the powertrain support table under the vehicle.
  3. Raise the powertrain into position under the vehicle.
  4. With the table positioned, if required, lower the vehicle over the powertrain.
  5. Install the frame to body bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Install Transmission Mount - Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side M3U)Transmission Mount Replacement (Left Side M3D/M3H)

  9. Install Engine Mount Bolt (1) - Engine Mount Replacement

  11. Connect the range selector lever cable terminal (4) to the transmission manual shift lever (5)
  12. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  13. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft- Right Side - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)
  14. Install Propeller Shaft -Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement

  16. Connect the lower control arms to the steering knuckles then install the lower control arm ball stud nuts (1). Lower Control Arm Replacement (Equinox)Lower Control Arm Replacement (Terrain)
  17. Install Exhaust Front Pipe - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LTG)

  19. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear then install the pinch bolt (1). Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Equinox)Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Terrain)

  21. Connect Stabilizer Shaft Link (2) @ Stabilizer Shaft -Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Equinox)Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Terrain)

  23. Connect Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod (3) @ Steering Knuckle -Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement

  25. Disconnect Air Conditioning Evaporator Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose (2) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Air Conditioning Evaporator Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose Replacement (LTG)

  27. Connect Heater Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet -Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG with KL9)

  31. Connect Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG with KL9)
  32. Install Heater Core Outlet Hose -Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LYX without KL9)Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LH7) .

  38. Connect Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe (1) - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  39. Connect electrical connectors as needed.

  41. Install Air Cleaner Assembly (2) - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .

  43. Install Intake Manifold Cover (3) - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement 
  44. Install the battery tray. Battery Tray Replacement
  45. Recharge the A/C system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf) .
  46. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) .
  47. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  48. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing .
  49. If prelubing has not been performed, fill the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  50. Connect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9) .
  51. Perform the Crankshaft Position Variation Learn procedure. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn
