Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a)
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling
- Heater Inlet Hose to Heater Core Inlet Tube Remove - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (2H0) Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LUV)
- Heater Outlet Hose to Heater Core Outlet Tube Remove - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (2H0) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LUV) Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LUV Rear)
- Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly to Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Remove - Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (2H0) Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement (LUV)
- Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side Remove
- Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side (Encore) Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side (Trax) Remove
- Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement Remove
- Remove the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) module assembly drain (1) from the HVAC module assembly.
- From within the engine compartment, remove the HVAC module assembly nut (1) securing the HVAC module assembly to the cowl panel.
- Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct - Left Side to Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module - Disconnect {If equipped} - Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side
- Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct - Right Side to Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module - Disconnect {If equipped} - Floor Rear Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side
- Remove the HVAC module assembly (1) from the vehicle.
- Transfer components as necessary.
