Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement

Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

WARNING:

Do not repair or replace the seat stitching or seams in the seat back trim cover with an internal mounted seat side airbag module. Replace the complete seat back trim cover from the OEM. Non-OEM seat stitching may cause improper airbag deployment which could result in personal injury.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the front seat inner recliner finish cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Inner Recliner Finish Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove the front seat outer adjuster finish cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Finish Cover Replacement (with Manual Height Adjuster) , Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Finish Cover Replacement (with Power Height Adjuster) .
  4. Remove the front seat head restraint guides. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Head Restraint Guide Replacement .
  5. Remove the driver or passenger seat cushion latch release lever bezel, if equipped. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Latch Release Lever Bezel Replacement .
1 Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover

Procedure

  1. Disengage the j-channel retainers from the seat back cushion frame.
  2. Disengage both seat cover side j-channel straps from under the seat bottom frame and note the location and routing for installation.
  3. Disengage both cushion cover zippers, then flip the cover up to expose the seat back pad and frame.
  4. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the SIR module electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect the SIR electrical connector.
  6. Remove the Inflatable restraint front seat side module nuts (2) from the seat back frame.
  7. Note the routing of the inflatable restraint electrical cable for installation.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors that attach to the seat back cushion, if equipped with seat back cushion heater.
  9. Remove the seat back cushion cover, airbag module and pad from the seat cushion frame as an assembly.
2 Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Module Nut (Qty: 2)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution


Tighten 
3.5 N.m (31 lb in)
3 Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Pad

Procedure

  1. Remove the airbag module from the seat back cushion cover chute. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement
  2. Remove the hog rings from the seat back pad.
  3. Pull the cushion cover off of the pad.
