Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
  2. Remove the bolts securing the brake pedal assembly to the carrier. Refer to Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement (Manual Transaxle) or Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement (Automatic Transaxle) .
  3. Remove the air distribution duct assembly. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .
  4. Remove the right defogger outlet duct assembly. Refer to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Remove the left defogger outlet duct assembly. Refer to Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side .
1 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly to HVAC Module Bolt (Qty: 3)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  4 N.m (35 lb in)

2 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly to Body Bolt (Qty: 6)

Tighten:  25 N.m (18 lb ft)

3 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly to HVAC Module Nut (Qty: 1)

Tighten:  4 N.m (35 lb in)

4 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly
Tip: 
  1. Note the routing of the wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper reinstallation.
  2. With the aid of an assistant, remove the carrier from the vehicle.
