Installation Procedure

  1. If removed, install the lower control arms. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
    2. Fig 1: Identifying Utility Stand

  2. Lower the vehicle on to the frame.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Install the front frame bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 155 N.m (114 lb ft).

  4. Install the frame reinforcement. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (2.4L LE5 and 2.4L LAT)  or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Reinforcement Replacement (3.5L LZ4, 3.6L LY7 and 3.6L LSC) .
  5. Raise the vehicle off of the J 39580  .

  6. Install the rear transmission mount bolts to the frame.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  7. Install the front transmission mount thru bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).

  8. Install the power steering gear mounting bolts (1). Refer to Steering Gear Replacement (HP5) or Steering Gear Replacement (NJ1 or HP7) or Steering Gear Replacement (NVH) .

  9. Install the steering shaft coupling to the steering gear. Refer to Steering Shaft Coupling Replacement .

  10. Install the lower ball joints to the steering knuckles. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  11. Install the propeller shaft if the vehicle is equipped with AWD. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .
  12. Install the catalytic converters. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ4) or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LY7 ) or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LCS) and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ4) or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LY7) or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LCS) .
  13. Install both left and right stabilizer shaft insulator clamps. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement .
  14. Install the two push pins securing the front bumper air deflector to the frame. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .
  15. Install the engine splash shields. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  16. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  17. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture for the 3.5 L LZ4 engine or Engine Support Fixture for the 3.6 L LY7 engine.

  18. Release the radiator, air conditioning condenser, and fan module assembly from the upper tie bar.
  19. Install the radiator opening upper cover. Refer to Radiator Opening Upper Cover Replacement .
  20. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
