Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Standard Column)

  1. Install the steering column housing assembly onto the steering column housing jacket assembly.
  2. Install the 4 TORX(tm) head screws to the steering column housing assembly. Tighten the screws to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the following parts onto the steering column jacket assembly:
    1. The steering shaft (1).
    2. The adapter and bearing assembly (2).
    3. The steering column seal (3).

  4. Install the park lock cable assembly.

  5. Install 3 flat head 6-lobed socket tapping screws. Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  6. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control.
  7. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly. Refer to Turn Signal & Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle  .
  8. Install the shift lever assembly only. Refer to Shift Lever - Assemble - Off Vehicle  .
  9. Install the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Tilt Column)  or Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Standard Column)  .

  10. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
