Removal Procedure

- Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
- Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
- Remove engine mount (4). Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
- Using the engine support fixture, raise the engine approximately 76 mm (3 in).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Loosen the upper air conditioning (A/C) compressor bolts (1).
- Remove the lower A/C compressor nut and stud (2).
- Place a suitable drain pan under the oil pan drain plug (1).
- Remove the oil pan drain plug.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Reinstall the oil pan drain plug until snug.
- Remove the bolts (1) retaining the secondary air injection pump (2) to the oil pan.
- Tie the secondary air injection pump out of the way of the oil pan.
- Remove the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts.
- Remove the oil pan bolts.
- Remove the oil pan
- Remove any old oil pan sealant (1).
NOTE:
The support fixture bar must be installed to provide enough access to remove and properly tighten the oil pan bolts.
