51 45 030 Removing and installing dashboard trim
The following points must be strictly observed prior to starting work:
Switch off HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling electric vehicles.
When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).
Preliminary work needed:
- Refer to DISCONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT/RIGHT A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY .
- Refer to REMOVING STEERING COLUMN CONTROL PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE MID-RANGE SPEAKER IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE TRIM PANEL FOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY .
- Refer to REMOVING THE DASHBOARD TRIM AT THE CENTER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH .
- Refer to REMOVING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
- Refer to REMOVING RIGHT GLOVE COMPARTMENT WITH HOUSING .
- Refer to REMOVING LIGHT OPERATING UNIT .
- Removing side panel on dashboard, left/right
- Refer to REMOVING PASSENGER'S SIDE KNEE AIRBAG .
Remove covers (1) and release the Torx screw T20 underneath.
Attention!
Risk of breakage of windshield.
Do not open the hexagon bolt SW13.
Unscrew the screws (1).
Feed back cable (1).
Cord remains in the instrument panel.
UNLOCKING AIRBAG PLUG CONNECTIONS (2) and disconnect.
Unlock plug connections (3) and disconnect.
Unfasten cable tie (4).
Release and feed out the trim (1) at the clamps (2) in the arrow direction.
Installation note:
Ensure the correct seating of the guides (3 and 4).
Release screws (1) on dashboard at bottom.
Release the screws (2) in the air duct on the left/right.
Unscrew the screws (3).
Tightening torque 51 45 6AZ .
With the aid of a second person, pull dashboard (4) towards rear slightly and feed out electrical wiring, release further cable clips if necessary.
Remove dashboard (4) and feed out all electrical wires.
Installation note:
Make sure all electrical lines are correctly routed.
Check expanding foam tape (1) for damage.
If necessary, stick the new expanding foam tape (1) across the entire width of the instrument panel.
Expanding foam tape (1) must be glued above the cutout (2) for the vehicle identification number.
Observe NOTES on component adhesion with adhesive tape!
